STOP looking at her, shes MQTT

STOP looking at her, shes MQTT

Hot topic this one and its my opinion so don't get anything in a twist.

Now don't get me wrong mqtt has a use case, but is it a useless case?

You see im old school, and the thought of making hops via real radio is still a good thing, its about getting the most you can from as little power as possible and if you are a meshtastic user with an ounce of knowledge you'll know we have as much power as a fly in a tornado.

So i asked AI to draw an attractive women and called her mqtt. Then i asked AI to show her nerfing the mesh network - you cannot say killing as AI doesn't like it... there's a message there....

For me this is licence free, cheap as chips communication that's community built, what more could you ask for? especially in the event of a disaster where the powers gone and so is the mobile phone network  and no internet!  That's what this was meant for right?

Now again dont get me wrong i understand that in radio some obstacles like big hills cannot be overcome but that's a you problem to overcome. The internet is cheating and for me its not in the spirit of what this was all made for.

There i said it, please turn off mqtt and turn of the forwarding of mqtt packets.

For our area it kills it for everyone.. its like the time the guy next door put an elastic band around is mic and played club house classics from the radio all night on channel 19.-- someone had to cut his coax right?

The fluid working mesh is now clogged like a blocked drain because someone turned on mqtt and now the whole internet is inbound and its a mess.. a big mess and a slow mess. I mean to be honest if the mesh dies and everyone gives up as the comms is trashed i will gladly buy all your Heltecs for a fiver a pop and put them in a drawer till the next time.

If you want broken mesh then simply add mqtt.  Are you getting this yet?

There too many individuals with not enough understanding switching this on and killing it while smiling like the joker as they think they just  made contact with Jorgen somewhere in Denmark  ( love you Denmark but i had to use a country here )

Look at the women again, fun for 5 minutes then she murders you.

Sound familiar?

Taken form Meshtastics offical page:

IMPORTANT

When MQTT is turned on, you are potentially broadcasting your entire mesh's traffic onto the public internet. This includes messages and position information.

The default channel (LongFast) on the public MQTT server usually has a lot of traffic. Your device may get overloaded and may no longer function properly anymore. It is recommended to use a different channel or to use your own MQTT server if you experience issues.

PS: PLEASE STOP MESSING WITH YOUR NODE SETTINGS TRYING TO GET MORE OUT OF IT IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS TO YOUR OWN NODE AND OTHER USERS - that was in caps for dramatic effect.

PPS: Ive tried everything < insert im an idiot here >, default settings are the best bar far, and oh yes they actually work? Damn you Dev Team.
